This driveway makeover was a simple but effective project for the SilvaTree team, as we were requested to add some colour and interest to a block paving driveway in Beckenham. The block paving driveway was still in great shape and continued to be an asset to the homeowners, but they were looking for something more which our landscaping experts could create.

While the block paving was still in great condition, our clients wanted to add some colour and interest to the driveway. For most people, the driveway creates the first impression of your home and therefore should look good at all times of the year. While our clients were happy with the driveway, the rest of their front garden lacked interest.

Edging And Borders
To create the flower beds around the borders of the driveway, we installed a corten steel edging. This not only added structure to the flower beds to support plant growth, but would also offer a beautiful contrast between the dark block paved driveway and stone edging as corten steel rusts to an orange tone over time.
Planting For Colour And Interest
The main appeal of this driveway makeover is the plants, which were specifically chosen to offer colour and interest throughout the seasons. These displays were created using a combination of sedums and herbaceous border plants, as well as various grass varieties for interest, height and movement.
Although the flower beds are narrow, we included a great range of plants around the driveway to create more appeal and add some colour to the otherwise monochromatic garden.
